Older Adult exercise
Learn how to support older adults at any fitness level to live life independently and fully.
This popular certification is based on current research and leading practice in older adult fitness. Delivered by qualified Fitness Alberta trainer-educators, it provides an overview of the changes that occur in the body as it ages and the necessary considerations to plan and deliver group fitness classes for older adults of all fitness levels. Topics covered include:
- physiology and sociology of aging
- leadership and motivation
- common disorders
- risk management
This minimum 20-hour course is available in-person and virtually. Please note that during the summer months, course availability may be limited. Please check back as listings are updated frequently.
To register for this course we recommend that you are currently registered in, or have completed the Fitness Alberta Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise course. (You do not have to have written your Foundations exam).
