We are currently recruiting Fitness Instructors to lead aquatic fitness programs.

The City of Leduc Recreation Services Department connects our community by being inclusive,
contributing to individual well-being, and supporting an enhanced quality of life. We provide the
community with recreation programs, services, and facilities to support overall health and well-
being. In Wellness Services, our Fitness Instructors bring health and wellness programs to life
through quality and engaging group fitness classes such as AquaFit.
What is the opportunity?
Reporting to the Wellness Services Coordinator, this position is responsible for planning,
organizing, and leading aquatic fitness classes for participants of various ages and physical
abilities. Class times vary from morning, noon & afternoon classes.
What will you do?
• Create appropriate class plans that align with program objectives and participant needs.
• Arrange equipment setup and takedown 10-15 minutes prior to each session and remain
available for participant inquiries before and after classes.
• Deliver quality fitness programs, offering modifications (regressions or progressions) as
necessary and demonstrating expertise in training principles and exercise techniques.
• Provide clear instructions to participants, actively monitoring their performance to ensure
safety and proper exercise execution. Offer continuous cues and feedback.
• Uphold excellent customer service standards, serving as a positive ambassador for the City
of Leduc. Foster positive relationships with participants and stay informed about other LRC
programs and services.
Requirements and qualifications
What do you need to succeed?
• 18 years of age
• Fitness Alberta Aquatic Exercise Specialty certification, or equivalent
• Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification with CPR
• Most classes are instructed from the pool deck, however, candidates should be capable of
safely working in and around pools, including swimming in shallow and deep water.
Preferred:
• 6 months of fitness experience working, preferably in a municipal setting
• Additional group fitness certifications/qualifications are considered an asset
