Description: We are seeking an instructor to lead a 14-week Gentle Strength
Training class for seniors. Gentle Strength Training classes take 2 forms:
This class is focused on building and preserving independence through exercises for
balance, strength, stamina, and neuromuscular challenge. Classes may involve light
weights, resistance bands, bender balls, and steps. Online participants should obtain
sufficient equipment. A wide-based stool that won’t tip over will work for a step. A
chair that won’t slide around and has no arms is needed.

This class is focused on building and preserving independence through exercises for
balance, strength, stamina, and neuromuscular challenge. Classes may involve light
weights, resistance bands, bender balls, and steps, in a circuit-training format.

The 14-week session will begin the week of January 12th, 2026, will run for 5 weeks,
take a 1-week break for the week of Family Day (February 16th - 20th, 2026), and
then resume for another 9 weeks, ending the week of April 20th, 2026. We would
prefer instructors who are available on Wednesday and/or Friday afternoons,
particularly from 2:15 - 3:15 pm.

Requirements and qualifications

Must be a Fitness Alberta-certified instructor. Must be able to provide proof of
certification and insurance.
