Description
The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking enthusiastic and certified Group Fitness
Instructors to deliver safe, engaging, and inclusive fitness classes for participants of all
ages and abilities. The successful candidate will promote active, healthy lifestyles,
foster a sense of community, and provide high-quality instruction in a welcoming
recreation environment.
Candidates should be certified to lead a variety of class formats, including HIIT, Circuit,
Older Adult, Mobility, and Strength-based classes.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver group fitness classes that are safe, effective, and engaging
Adapt and modify exercises to suit different fitness levels and participant needs
Demonstrate proper technique while providing clear, motivating instruction
Ensure participant safety by following industry best practices and City policies
Set up and take down equipment before and after classes
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere for all participants
Respond professionally to participant questions and feedback
Maintain current certifications and participate in required training or meetings
Complete attendance tracking and required documentation as assigned
Requirements and qualifications
Minimum 18 years of age
Current Fitness Alberta Group Fitness Certification or equivalent
Valid CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certification
Previous experience instructing group fitness classes is considered an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and professional with a strong work ethic
Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as required
